Our Ethics, impact and responsibilities
- Access Himalaya has a strong commitment to having a positive impact on the culture and environment of our destinations.
- We are small local operator who has great local interests and staff. This ensures close contact with the local community and maximises the benefit of the money we spend.
- We have great respect for the cultures of the destinations and work to encourage the development of these cultures, rather than their dilution.
- We do not expect and try not to use facilities that are inappropriate to the destinations or that have a detrimental effect.
- We use local guides who are well trained and are usually native to the areas visited.
- Our group sizes are small – this lessens the impact on the local people, wildlife and environment.
- We provide cultural and environmental information before departure and encourage thought and respect for local communities, cultures and their environment.
- We recycle all paper and old brochures and use environmentally friendly paper where possible.
- We give thought to our energy use in the office and endeavour to minimise waste.
- We support and are members of many organisations that follow and promote these principles
